May 29th & 30th 2024

The Berkeley Centre

Munster Technological University Cork

Symposium Aim

The overall aim of the symposium is to bring together graduate students and researchers from  Irish third-level institutions who are engaged in research related to analysis and simulation of the built environment. Given the diversity of ongoing research, the symposium will act as a unique forum to highlight both the breadth and depth of  activity  in  the  building  performance  analysis  arena,  as  well  as  providing  an  opportunity  for  researchers  to share their experiences. Invited keynote speakers at the symposium will be Prof. Wangda Zuo, Pennsylvania State University, USA and Dr Spencer Dutton, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA.

The final program of the event can be accessed at this link.

Accommodation:

  • The Kingsley is located near to MTU Bishopstown Campus and is a good hotel at a reasonable price, it's also reasonable close to the City Centre. It’s the one we typically recommend.

  • The Lee Hotel is another good one with easy access to the Campus and the city..

  • Oriel House Hotel in Ballincollig, its location is good for campus but a bit far from the city centre.

  • Booking.com for other available options.

Dinner

The social event & symposium dinner will take place on 29th of May, 2024 at Thompsons in Cork at 20:15pm.

Parking

There should be parking available on Campus on Wednesday 29th May. On Thursday 30th May the Cork City Schools Annual Sports Day will be taking place in the MTU sports stadium and pitches. Therefore, while the campus itself will be quiet where the Symposium is based, there will be little or no parking on campus on Thursday. We strongly advise all Symposium participants to make alternative travel arrangements to/from campus that day and to allow sufficient time for your arrival. There will be parking options in the surrounding areas in Bishopstown within reasonable walking distance from Campus. There are also plenty of public transport options to/from the City Centre.
